I have previously posted photographs of the Street Art created during the Cans Festival in Leake Street, under London’s Waterloo railway station.
This afternoon, passing through the underpass, I was shocked to see that most of the works have been defaced by paint-spray -toting degenerates, whose height of creativity is daubing their tag on walls.
Some of the paintings damaged were the work of Banksy whose work has been sold for £250,000 (US$480,000). As with all Street Art their value was immaterial, I am just dismayed by the wanton destruction of art. Are they such cretins, that their only reaction is to destroy rather than be inspired to create their own art?
Some people are real cretins and would deserve to be punished for their actions. Street art can be great and I like it but spraying your initials on a wall, a train or phone box is not art but stupidity and they should be punished for it by having to clean up and repaint the walls.
How very sad…. I enjoy Street Art like which you’ve shown. Yes, I agree that destroying this art is the work of degenerate lowlife behavior.
Oh the glaring irony of this 😀
