BLEURGH. Does it need to be quite so literal?

If you visit Holland, JJ, and witness how dog owners allow their dogs foul the grass and pavement in front of people’s houses, you will appreciate it does take a literal sign to get the message over

Can’t they put some k’s on the dogs and the dog sign?

Well Lynn, I can take you to a small town in Holland, and specifically an area which is used by people to walk their dogs. The Local Authority provides a bag dispenser and disposer. On numerous occasions I have witnessed people, standing within feet of the dispenser, make no effort to clean up their dog mess. I’ve been told, in France the police stop people walking their dogs and if they aren’t carrying bags which can be used to clean up their dog mess, they will be charged.

I never leave home without them and they come in many colors, as featured in Biodegradable http://lynnwiles.wordpress.com/?s=biodegradable

I’m absolutely astonished by this. I would’ve thought the Dutch would be right up there keeping their streets and parks clean.

I remember twenty years ago, Paris being littered with dog poo, and a little vehicle trawling the streets clearing it up.

I think in England most dog owners are pretty good at clearing up after their dogs. Or am I looking through rose coloured glasses?

I know some folks in our town would greatly appreciate having this literal message for their yards. We carry little baggies to scoop the poo when we walk our dogs. The problem is that we are noticeable with our four dogs and we do clean-up but others do not, so we could be blamed. The biggest problem with poo lying around is the spread of Parvo for the sniffing dogs.

Well done Anna – award yourself a golden poop scoop. 🙂
